Sometimes, a rainy day turns out to be a blessing in disguise. During the summer months, it means kids miss out on a day at the beach or a run through the backyard sprinkler. But don’t forget that an afternoon spent indoors with the family is never a bad thing - it’s a priceless bonding experience. A child’s natural inclination will be to turn on the television and vegetate for a few hours. As a parent, you can curtail that bad habit by bringing out a good, old-fashioned board game.

It’s easy to forget about those classic board games that are gathering dust in the utility closet. A few minutes of game play will remind you of these games’ addictive nature. Just try playing a game of Scrabble without someone calling for an immediate rematch. Yahtzee is just as engrossing, and the kids will learn to appreciate the extra time they spent in close commune with their family.
